Mark Martin, Business Manager at Spanbilt has come up with some clever space saving solutions that will help make your garage and shed space work harder for you.

“There’s a never ending battle happening within every garage and shed, to win the clutter war against rogue tools, sports equipment other bits and pieces that make your home feel crowded.”

“Here’s a few pro-tips that will help you think a little differently about your space, and how to stretch it to its absolute limits.”

  1. Look Up! If you have the necessary head clearance, the ceiling is a space saver’s best friend. I’ve seen some savvy innovators use ceiling mounted containers, hanging grills and hooks that they’ve assembled themselves in their Spanbilt sheds. There’s one aerial innovation that I have found to be incredibly handy; the Bike Pulley. Bikes take up too much floor space, especially when you have a family of them. The pulley holds them tight up to the ceiling, reclaiming at least a good two to three square metres of space.

  1. A Little on the Side. Tools have always been hung on walls to help make a room feel wider, but why stop with just tools? A high wall with a combination of sections and hooks can create great opportunities for storing all sorts of things from hoses to outdoor chairs, skateboards and surfboards and general bits & bobs; all of which contribute to the clutter in your garage or shed.

  1. Balls to the Wall. Storage of basketballs, soccer balls, footballs and every other bouncing object can be a massive headache. If you really love to tuck everything away this tip will get you excited. Running 5 or 6 ockey straps vertically between two anchored brackets makes for an easy to assemble, highly effective ball cage. You’ll never have to worry about stray sports gear tripping you up in your storage space again.

  1. Outback. Many homeowners will have some space outside where there’s room for a small shed. Utilising this area can go a long way to freeing up valuable space inside the home. Sheds suitable for this type of application are extremely secure, and are available in a range of sizes, colours and security options that will suit just about any living situation. Spanbilt’s Storemate range offers a number of options that are perfect for keeping important items stored practically and securely.

The Storemate range starts from an RRP of $379.

If you are in need of a more secure compact storage solution you can’t do better than a Storemate®. These are some of the most compact sheds on the market and offer a unique unobstructed dual entry mechanism to store and access your items quickly and easily.

Storage space is a seriously underrated asset in the home. The ability to create your own will help you sleep at night and make for a cleaner, more organised living environment for you and your family.
